On what type of rolls Thermal Profiling Systems are most efficient?
Hot and Cold Air Systems as well as induction based Systems (CALCOIL) are most effective on shell type rolls, e.g. variable crown rolls or heated volume displacer rolls (V-Type). Cold air blowing nozzels need to have a roll with a significantly increased surface temperature to be effective at all.
Can Thermal Profiling Systems be used to increase the heating ramp of thermo rolls?
The heating and cooling ramps are normally specified for the thermal fluid. Adding external thermal power when ramping a peripherally drillen thermo roll may generate excessive internal tensile stresses in the roll body. This may cause the roll body to crack.
